Welcome

Hey friend! In this article, I’m going over how you can use 4 awesome healing journals this year, to go deeper in your writing, and to get results you haven’t yet seen before when it comes to healing and feeling better.

I’ll also talk about some free and easy ways you can start a journal, and some inspiring ideas to get started.

Journaling can be a game changer when it comes to maintaining mental health.

There is something about writing and getting your thoughts out that is very therapeutic.

Sometimes, it can be hard at first to start.

It can be debilitating to sit there and not know what to write. Also, it’s pretty normal to feel weird when you start writing. That’s why I started creating journaling books and guides, to help people through this process.

It is totally normal to resist journaling. It can be scary to see your thoughts on paper. But try it once and tell yourself you can throw away the paper as soon as you want to. Just give it a try.

I started journaling a lot when my younger brother died of an overdose in 2016 at the young age of 28. I also sought counseling and life coaching, but journaling has been key for me, as well.

I’m Holly Ecimovic, I create books and journals for health and emotional wellness, and for those who love personal development + fitness. (Grab my Fitness Manifestation Journal, here!)

I also design journals. Download all my freebies for your coaching clients, or treat yourself, over here in my Free Stuff Vault [ACCESS NOW.]

Healing is very possible for you, and journaling can make it easier.

Sometimes, you can go from feeling hopeless, to all of a sudden, you find yourself writing a list of goals for yourself. That’s something to think about!

For example, once I was so very depressed about missing my brother after he died. I started to just write down angry thoughts about how unfair it was and how mad I was to see that the world just doesn’t even care about my pain, etc. So, after I just got out those thoughts on paper…I then felt this blank space in my mind, where hope was able to occupy now. So, I started a list of goals that I would accomplish, just to kick the pain in the face.

Turning a bad thing into hope is one way journaling can be pretty cool!

Now, let’s take a look at 4 unique healing journals you can use, how each one is different, and how you can get them in your hands!

Self-Love Journal

If you look up the definition of journaling on Google, you will get something like this:

“It's simply writing down your thoughts and feelings to understand them more clearly. And if you struggle with stress, depression, or anxiety, keeping a journal can be a great idea. It can help you gain control of your emotions and improve your mental health.” - Google definition of Journaling.

I completely agree with the statement that journaling can help you gain control of your emotions and improve your mental health. I also believe that journaling can improve your emotional and even your physical health!

The Self-Love Journal is perfect for boosting your confidence, and figuring out what you really want.

Sometimes, healing means taking note of what matters to you.

The prompts and exercises in this journal will help you develop a greater sense of who you are, what really matters to you, and how you can better look after yourself.

It’s a great place to start if you’re trying to work on your personal development this year.

In this Self-Love Journal, you get a year's worth of prompts, quotes, and exercises to help you create room in your life for what makes you feel whole.

This journal is made by Promptly Journals, one of my favorite companies. It’s a journal for people age 10 and up, and it’s designed to help you practice self-care when things get chaotic and seem out of control.

Here are some examples of journal prompts inside the Self-Love Journal:

Prompt Examples:

  • Who are the most influential people in your life?

  • What is a compliment someone's given you that has stayed with you?

  • What are some things that help you feel grounded and gain perspective when you're stressed?

  • Write about something you did well today.

  • Make a list of things that are more important to you than how you look.

The Self-Love Journal has a linen cover, and it’s beautifully designed. Grab it, HERE.

Grief Journal

The Grief Journal by Promptly Journals was made to serve as a tool for helping you process your grief and hold on to precious memories.

Natalie Norton and Promptly founder, Jayne Swallow, have carefully curated useful prompts to serve as an emotional outlet through the proven therapeutic practice of writing.

The journal creators sincerely hope that this grief journal can be a source of comfort to you during a difficult time, and that you can find peace and healing through written word.

In the Grief Journal, you will find these two sections: Healing and Hope for the Future.

Within these sections, you will find affirmations like, 'My happy life is a legacy of my love for you,' and prompts like, 'small things that suddenly feel hard,' and, 'Who supported you? Who are the people you can open up to and confide in?'

I love using grief journals because after my brother died, I had so much anxiety, anger and deep sadness, that I had to sort it all out. I also had to make sense of what the future might hold for me, and what that could look like.

Check out the book I created, dedicated to my brother after he died, HERE. It’s called The Service Journal. I dedicated the book to him, to honor his volunteer efforts and to help people to get started with volunteering in their communities.

Regardless of where you want to begin in your healing journey, I highly recommend using a grief journal! Grab yours, HERE.

Postpartum & Childhood History Journal

The Postpartum & Childhood History Journal are both great tools to use for emotional wellness for new mothers.

The Childhood History Journal is a prompted journal that helps a parent easily document a complete childhood history for their child. It covers from when the mother is pregnant, until the child is 18 years old.

Each phase and year of the child's life has custom tailored prompts to ensure quick, but meaningful recording for the parent. The cover material is made of Leatherette, and it feels smooth with a thin, leather binding.

There's nothing quite so joyful as adding a baby to your family. But along with the excitement and magic come sleeplessness, hormonal changes, and big emotions. I personally know this from experience, as of this writing, I have a 2-year-old and a 4-year-old. Joyful, but chaotic!

The Postpartum Journal, created with certified therapists, will help any woman navigate the transition of adding a baby to her family with more support, confidence, and joy. So special!

What's to love:

  • A wipeable cover in Cashew Leatherette

  • Coil bound design for easy writing

  • Journaling prompts, check-ins, therapy tips, words of encouragement, and resources specific to the postpartum period

  • The perfect companion for any mother who is pregnant or recently had a baby (by birth or adoption)

  • Helps prevent and ease the symptoms of postpartum depression and anxiety

Prompt examples:

  • How can you show compassion to yourself today?

  • What helps you feel more emotionally balanced? What adjustments can you make to get the help you need?

  • What do you want to remember about this stage in your life?

  • Have you felt more angry, impatient, or frustrated since the birth of your baby? Write about some moments when it has been hard to keep your cool. (P.S. You're not alone!)

Remembrance Journal

The Remembrance Journal was specifically made to serve as a tool for helping you to process the loss of a loved one, and keep detailed memories of them alive.

This journal was carefully curated with prompts and designated space to hold on to moments shared, to treasure forever.

The hope is that this journal can honor the memory of your loved one, and be a source of comfort to you in the future.

You will find the following sections:

Memories; Event of Death; Memorial Service; Extra Thoughts.

Within those specific sections, you will find prompts like, 'My first memory with you,' 'These places remind me of you,' and, 'I was looking forward to this for/with you.'

This particular journal has a linen cover and it’s 6 inches by 9 inches, so it’s great for carrying in your purse so you can always have it with you. Grab The Remembrance Journal, HERE!
