Welcome

So, how is your energy level this week? If it’s pretty low, no worries, I have something to help you and it doesn’t involve a bunch of caffeine, although I’m not hating - I’m no stranger to espresso shots as I have a 3-year-old and 17-month-old running around. I feel you, and I prefer the caramel infused ones. Ha! Anyhow, I'm willing to bet these journal prompts will give you a boost. [Scroll down for prompts]

Journal prompts for healthy eating habits are always useful to program your mind to focus on what’s important to you right now, which is probably your fitness goals, if you’re visiting this page.

Intentional Journaling and Your Health

This week, we did some digging and got very intentional with our writing about our nutrition and meal planning.

Long story short, we talked a lot about how our food intake affects our mood and energy levels.

Dr. Shainna Ali, author of The Self Love Workbook: A life-changing guide to boost self-esteem, recognize your worth and find genuine happiness, talks about having a ‘Self-Love Date’ (page 61.) She says you should consider your wellness and how you receive love, and that you should take a moment to plan a date just for you. [Learn all about Dr. Ali and her work, HERE.]

Well, your first ‘Self-Love Date’ could just be you, taking 10 minutes for yourself, to write about the following journal prompts I have written for you. Start there!

“Tending to your wellness provides the foundation for self-care and shows that you recognize your self-worth,” Dr. Ali says in The Self Love Workbook (Page 61.) I encourage you to use these journal prompts in your own self-care routine.

This week, we have 3 new journal prompts focusing on healthy eating habits. Let’s get started.

Journal Prompts for Healthy Eating

Journal Prompt 1: Choose three words to sum up your energy level you’ve had over the past week, in relation to the foods you’ve eaten and how much exercise you’ve gotten. Focus on direct connections between mind, body and food and how they relate to the goals you’ve set for yourself.

Journal Prompt 2: Talk about your favorite “food as fuel.” So, instead of a comfort food, like fries or ice cream, talk about a food you LOVE that really helps sustain you throughout the day. Perhaps it’s healthy greens with broiled fish, one of my personal favorites. I also prefer avocados and sharp cheddar slices. Or, your favorite homemade healthy snack. Describe how it gives you energy mentally and physically. Go ahead, appreciate that body of yours!

Journal prompt 3: Name one way you plan to incorporate healthy eating further into your routine next week. For example, even if you’ve been hitting current goals, take it a step further, perhaps add an activity into your day to step it up — extra 30 minutes of stretching or deep breathing instead of mindless snacking, or, try one new healthy dish you haven’t eaten before from your favorite food blogger. Get creative! It’s just adding one small tweak to your day-to-day schedule.
